Sportier compact sedan to feature upgraded MBUX infotainment system with ‘Energizing Coach’
Mercedes-Benz teased its new 2020 CLA mid-December ahead of the car’s debut at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early January in Las Vegas.
The image shows off a four-door coupe profile a la its larger CLS sibling, though its target buyer is someone looking for a sported-up version of the compact A-Class sedan.
The automaker isn’t giving away a lot of info on the CLA, outside of the fact it will feature a refresh of the MBUX infotainment system that came out this year on the A-Class.
New features built into the system include a navigation tool helped along by augmented reality; some sort of unspecified movement controls, as well as the ability to recognize indirect voice commands; and an “Energizing Coach” that may or may not see the car take your fitness to heart.
The car is expected to hit the market summer 2019 as a 2020 model, and will be based on the same front-wheel-drive platform as the A-Class. Performance-spec AMG CLA35 and CLA45 variants are already in development.
The CES debut will happen just after the first week of the new year.
