Audi’s second-generation Q3 crossover will, like the first, be getting a performance RS model with an engine lifted from the TT RS sports car. The difference is this upcoming car should also be making its way to North America.
The 2019 Audi RS Q3 is expected to take the more than 400 horsepower generated by its 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-five-cylinder engine and funnel it through a seven-speed automatic to all four wheels.
The body and chassis will see tweaks over the standard Q3, too, claims Car & Driver, with aggressive styling cues to set it apart from its not-so-powerful siblings and RS enhancements that will be even better integrated into the new car, where they were more of an afterthought for the last-gen Q3.
The magazine says the RS Q3 should be headed to the U.S., and we’d expect Canada, too, where it would take on other hot-hatch crossovers like the Mercedes-AMG GLA45.
